Amazing food and service! You should come and try Anthony you're amazing kuzu sis was great and also you should have Beylerbeyi göbek rakı with it!
We enjoyed a truly excellent lunch last week at Agora. We were looking for an interesting restaurant near Dupont Circle. We already have one or two places that we enjoy but were wanting to find another. Agora is absolutely one restaurant that we will return to. It was a warm day and so we decided to sit outside. There is a nice outside seating area that's covered-which helps both with sun and rain. The hostess greeted us in a very friendly way and showed us to our table. Our server Anthony N came shortly and offered us both water and excellent thick crusted bread. Anthony was absolutely amazing. As this was our first visit to Agora, he made several suggestions that were absolutely on target. The first was to choose the Spread Sampler. Each of the spreads was excellent, we especially enjoyed the humus, and baba ganoush. And of course the bread provided was first rate. We chose two mezzeh dishes, the Bruksel Lahana which is grilled brussels sprouts, the other the Mixed Mushrooms. Each of these dishes were extremely well seasoned, well sized and delicious. The mushrooms were al dente - nice and firm while being cooked to perfection. Our desserts, OMG. The Kunefe was very good. I have not had this dessert since my visit to an Arab village. To be honest, Agora's version was not quite as good, but it was still really satisfying. The chocolate Bavaroise was a bit rich for me, but my wife loved it. It was my wife's birthday and they gave us 2 pieces of baklava. Also very good. This was not too sweet and relatively light. I've had better, but this was good. We will absolutely return to Agora. It's a restaurant where the staff appear to be well treated and they in turn take good care of their customers.
@agoradc in dupont circle (and tysons,va) BOTTOMLESS BRUNCH is $48 PER PERSON and includes unlimited dishes, bloody marys and mimosas... say less! the vibes were great, the food was good, and service incredible
Agora is a hip, low-lit spot for Turkish style mezzo, located in Dupont Circle. It certainly lands in the boujee side of DC eats. It seems their most popular menu item is the bottomless brunch, which features a variety of small plates. Among the small plates, some of our favorites were the flatbreads, truffled eggs (apparently a specialty), French toast, Greek yogurt parfait, and halloumi cheese. There were many more good choices on the menu as well as a variety of drinks. The OJ was great. If you sit on the porch, try to find a table on level ground. You might get tired, leaning on one side to compensate for the slight incline, and sacrifice some range of motion to reach all the plates. At the end of the 2 hour limit, each of us owed ~$65. I could see why Agora is a favorite for a boujee brunch with the girls.
This review was a long time coming. I was dying to try out Agora DC after my friend treated me to the Tyson's location for my birthday. Agora Tyson's was some of the best food that I've had in a while, so expectations were high for their DC location. I'm pleased to report, the food quality is identical! That means, A+ all the way around. Please try the chicken, giant prawns, jumbo scallops, octopus and lamb chops.. You'll thank me later!! Both locations have their own charm, but I'm leaning towards the DC version just a hair more because of the the indoor/outdoor seating option. Although I visited when it was cold out, the patio was still booming with the mega heat lamps. It was warm enough to sweat a little...LOL! I've been hooked on Tapas style restaurants since trying out Jaleo many moons ago. Service was great and I've put Agora on my top 5 DC restaurants list.. period!!!
Loved the food, service, and ambiance of this restaurant!! We were seated in the outdoor heated patio area, where it was dimly lit, creating a moody and casual vibe. We ordered the şiş kebap, grilled octopus, dolmades, spreads sampler, and the purple kelebek (drink). The şiş kebap was very tender and cooked to medium rare as requested. The spreads sampler was amazing, loved all of the different flavors! Grilled octopus was a tad bit too mushy and overcooked in my opinion, and a bit too salty. The dolmades were also okay, the dill flavor overpowered the other flavors, but still good! The purple kelebek tasted like a peach lemonade, I enjoyed it! Agora will be going on my list of returning restaurants! They also have a bottomless brunch option that I've heard great things about, so looking forward to trying that as well!
Our group of 5 came for Easter brunch. Agora was on point in every aspect. Service - welcoming from the moment we checked in for our reservation. Leo, our primary server, was fantastic. He kept things moving, always gracious and helpful with ordering. Others came by to clear dishes, bring brunch items, or fill mimosas. Wonderful! Atmosphere- awesome. Good music playing, lively vibe. We were seated in the larger side of the downstairs interior (vs. open air patio). I believe that they've invested in noise-absorbing, decorative foam in the ceiling. There was some noise, obviously, but our group had no trouble conversing, even over the light clatter of dishes, music, and other conversations. Much appreciated! The dishes were lovely, everything felt warm and classy. Food. Fabulous. We were first-timers, there for the bottomless brunch. Drinks came first. If you prefer to go non-alcoholic, there's coffee or Turkish tea. We went for the mimosas and we were never left wanting. Fill-ups were frequent and they also brought a bottle and a carafe of OJ to the table. You can sample a bit of everything and be sated. Portions were commensurate with the fact you could always order more. Small, shareable portions - plenty for all. We never felt rushed and our group had plenty of time to drink, eat, celebrate, socialize and enjoy the morning. We stayed the full 2 hours of our reservation. I highly recommend Agora for the brunch experience and hope to come another time for a standard meal.
Came here for a nice family group dinner one night, and I got to say I was definitely impressed. I haven't had too much Mediterranean food but I'm wanting to branch out! We got the Dolmades, the Sucuklu Flatbread, the Octopus Legs, and the Grilled Bass! The ingredients tasted fresh and high quality on the dolmades, stuffed grape leaves, and the flatbread, such delicious Mediterranean flavors! However, my favorites were the seafood dishes, super fresh and cooked to perfection; the fish was super tender and well seasoned, combined with some citrus from the lemon was fantastic; the octopus was so tender, I definitely would order this again! Service was top tier, our server was very attentive, asked about allergies, and was able to provide food and wine recommendations!
Great and flavorful Turkish/Middle Eastern food. The food is great and the plates are small yet filling. The spread dish was great, I really recommend getting that. It was great for me and a friend. They also have a variety of drinks to choose from. The service was also great despite it being a busy restaurant. Be wary of sitting outside. My friend and I were sitting on the edge not very close to the heater and were freezing. By the time we were ready to eat certain plates they were already cold.
